Lesser Sunda Birding Tour

Take a morning flight to Tambolaka Airport in Sumba Island. Pick up at the airport then have lunch at a local restaurant in Tambolaka before drive to Waikabubak. Check in to the hotel then drive to Lapopu. Birding here till evening. Dinner at a local restaurant, stay overnight at Manandang Hotel

Depart from hotel at 05:00 AM, drive to Tanadaru. Birding around Tanadaru forest till midday. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Langgaliru. Afternoon birding at different sites in Tanadaru, then drive back to Waikabubak. Dinner at alocal restaurant, stay overnight at Manandang Hotel

Early morning drive to Tanadaru or Tanarara. Birding here till midday then drive to Langgaliru. Have lunch here. After lunch birding in Lewat. Afternoon drive to Waingapu. Dinner and stay overnight at Padadita Beach Hotel

Morning session, birding at Yumbu Grassland, the highest chance to meet Sumba Buttonquail. Continue birding in Laipori and Mengitimbe marsh area. Lunch in town, then afternoon visit Elegant Pitta hide to get to photograph Pitta from the hide. Stay at Padadita Beach Hotel

Take a morning flight from Waingapu to Kupang. Arrive in Kupang, stop in the city for breakfast then drive to Bipolo. Birding here till midday. Lunch in Camplong then drive to So’e. Dinner at a local restaurant, stay at Bahagia 2 Hotel

Depart at 05.00am drive to Fatumnasi the main village close Mt Mutis. Biring in the Reserve till afternoon. Afternoon drive back to Soe. Dinner at a local restaurant. Stay overnight at Bahagia 2 Hotel

Early morning depart from hotel, take a 2-hours drive to Lelogama forest. Birding here until afternoon. Drive back to Kupang. Dinner at a local restaurant, stay at On The Rock Hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, drop to the harbor of Tenau to get a fast Ferry (Air conditioned) to Rote island. It takes 1,5 hours to cross to the island. Check in to the hotel and having lunch at a local restaurant in Ba’a. After lunc drive to Pantai Baru. Birding here till evening. Dinner and Stay overnight at Hotel Ricky in Rote

Early morning drive to Bolatena. Full day birding in Bolatena or back to the town for lunch then back to Pantai Baru in the afternoon. Dinner at a local restaurant, Stay at Ricky Hotel.

Early morning departure from hotel, drive to Bolatena. Birding here till 11.00am then drive to the harbor to catch the Ferry back to Kupang. Dinner at a local restaurant, stay overnight at On The Rock Hotel.

Take a flight from Kupang to Bajawa or to Ruteng. Lunch at a local restaurant in Bajawa. Check in to the hotel then birding in Wolowio. Stay overnight at Sanian Hotel/Ara arden Inn.

Early breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Watujaji or Langa. Birding here for 2 hours then drive to Waelengga. Stop for lunch, then drive to Kisol. Birding in Pocondeki then drive to Ruteng. Dinner at a local restaurant, stay overnight at Ara Garden Inn.

Leave the hotel at 04:00am! 20 minutes drive to Golo Lusang forest to do owling. The target is Fores scops-owl. Continue birding around Golo Lusang till midday. Back to town for lunch then birding in Mbeang Ledas. Dinner at local restaurant, Stay overnight at Ara Garden Inn

Depart 05:30am from hotel, drive to Gapong. Birding here till midday then back to Ruteng for lunch. After lunch drive to Labuan Bajo. Dinner and stay overnight at Puri Sari Beach Hotel

Day 13: Labuan Bajo – Komodo – Labuan Bajo (B/L/D) Visit Komodo National Park by speedboat. Birding in Komodo island till 10:00am. Visit Pick beach for Swimming and snorkeling. We prepare lunch box, then back to Labuan Bajo. If time permits, it is possible to visit Padar Island, the iconic landscape of Komodo National Park. Afternoon Birding at Shrimp ponds south of the town. Dinner and Stay overnight at Puri Sari Beach Hotel

Early morning drive to Puarlolo forest. Birding here till midday. Back to Labuan Bajo, have lunch then transfer to the airport to catch an afternoon flight to Denpasar – Bali. Out.
