Itinerary

Day 1: Denpasar – Waingapu (- / L / D )

On arrival at Umbu Mehang Kunda Airport of Waingapu – East Sumba, aour driver and local guide will pick up you then transfer to your hotel. Afternoon birding at the sides of Kambaniru river. Targets: Sumba flowerpecker, Apricot sunbird, Five coloured Munia, Rufous-backed Kingfisher, Sumba buttonquail, Sunda Flowerpecker, and many more.
Dinner and stay overnight at Tanto hotel.

Day 2: Waingapu – Tabundung (B / L /D )

Depart at 07.00 AM drive to Tabundung district with stops at some spots for birding on the sides of road. Luch at local house in Tabundung. After lunch birding at the 1st birding site of Billa forest, Matalawa NP. Targets: Sumba Hornbill, Sumba Green Pigeon, Cinnamon-banded Kingfisher, Citron-Crested Cockatoo, Sumba brown Flycatcher and more. This is the 1st session of birding in Billa forest.
Birding will finish at 05.00 PM then drive to National Park office. Coffee time and dinner at the office. After dinner, back to Billa fores for owling with target: Little Sumba Boobook and Great Sumba Boobook.
Owling finish at 09:00 PM then back to the office where staying overnight.

Day 3: Birding in Billa (B / L / D )

Leaving the office at 04:00 AM, driven to Billa for morning Owling. This option will be skipped when two targets (Little Sumba Boobook and Great Sumba Boobook) already encountered at the night before. The next option is leaving the office at 06:00 AM. Today, we move to the 2nd birding site of Billa forest. Targets: Sumba myzomela, Nusatenggara Paradise Flycatcher, Sumba Flycatcher, Rusty-breasted Whistler, Marigold lorikeet, Eclectus parrot, Red-naped Fruit-Dove and more.
Birding finish at 11:00 AM then back to the office for lunch. After lunch drive back to Waingapu with stops for short birding at the side of road.
Dinner and stay overnight at Tanto Hotel.

Day 4: Birding at Praingkareha (B / L / D )

Starts from hotel at 05:30 AM, directly driven to Praingkareha for morning birding. The special target today is Sumba Buttonquail. This is the rarest species on Sumba. Spending more time to discover the savannah for more possibility. Luch at local and simple restaurant in Praimahala.
After lunch continue birding at Praingkareha till 04:00 PM. Another target: Sumba Flycatcher, Great-billed parrot, Drive to Waikabubak in the afternoon. Dinner at local restaurant in Waikabubak. Stay overnight at Manandang Hotel, Waikabubak.

Day 5: Birding at Tanadaru (B/ L / D )

Birding starts at 06:30 AM at Tana Daru a part of Matalawa National Park. Lunch at local restaurant in Waikabubak. After lunch, directly driven to Tambolaka. Afternoon birding around the beach line around Mario Hotel.
Dinner and stay overnight at Mario Hotel in Tambolaka

Day 6: Tambolaka – Denpasar (B/-/- )

Soft birding in the morning around the hotel before transfer to the Airport
